About Pi Kappa Alpha AT MTSU
A Legacy Reclaiming its Luster The story of the Eta Zeta chapter at MTSU began in the late 1960s. Originally a local fraternity known as Sigma Pi, our Founding Fathers set their sights on national excellence, officially chartering as Pi Kappa Alpha on March 20, 1971.
For decades, the Pikes were the standard-bearers of campus life, dominating socially, academically, and on the intramural fields. This momentum culminated in a "Golden Age" through the 90s and early 2000s, where the chapter earned prestigious national honors including the Robert T. Newell Award and the Robert Adgar Smythe Award—the highest distinction a Pike chapter can achieve.
Though the chapter went silent in 2011, our history didn't end there. We are dedicated to restoring that glorious legacy and bringing the Garnet and Gold back to MTSU.
